ABOUT US

Learn a New Craft ....be creative...

have fun!

Welcome to my Workshop introduction page . I have been organising and delivering workshops since 2005, although I have been making felt since 1996. I love what I do and I enjoy sharing my techniques and knowledge with likeminded people. My specialism is Sculptural Felt, I just love the magical process of creating a 3 dimensional sculpture from soft wool. My main focus in teaching is based on learning and accumulating techniques. Once you acquire a variety of techniques this enables you to bring your ideas and designs to life. I love to experiment, its the only way for your work to evolve, don't stand still too long! I like well made felt and I share this with my students, constantly working to achieve the best you possibly can.

In 2020 I have organised a variety of workshop topics all covering different techniques which you can use after the workshop. The workshops take place in Snainton Village Hall in North Yorkshire, between Pickering and Scarborough on the main A170 road. Very easy to find and easy free parking on site. I provide all the equipment and materials you need during the workshop, although I do ask you bring your own sharp scissors and two towels.

I provide endless cups of coffee and tea along with biscuits and afternoon cake. Please bring your own packed lunch. All workshops are on a Saturday and start at 10am and finish at 4pm.

You can book a place with a non-refundable deposit of £25 via Paypal on this site. Please click on "View 2020 Workshops" button below. The balance of £40 is due one month before the workshop. I will email you to request the balance.

Workshops are suitable for all abilities as I work with students to suit their experience. There are usually ten people in each workshop. Come with a friend or come on your own and make new friends. The workshops are always friendly and welcoming, spend a day with likeminded people. You can read previous reviews here.

Your Felt will be inspired by images of and real samples of seaweed. It is never my intention to replicate an object we are observing, but to extract areas of interest to translate into Felt. Your finished work will be wearable once dry. The image shown is just one interpretation, as always, at the workshop I will have a wide variety of samples to inspire you. On the day you will be able to choose which techniques you choose to use to interpret Seaweed. I will demonstrate Fine Felt, Cobweb and Nuno methods and how to combine them.
