For those of you who would like to try a different type of wool in your feltmaking, this is a selection of shades in Bergschaf 30%/Maori 70% mix in the form of carded batts.
If you have only used wool in tops form then this is a new feel to feltmaking. The batts are to be teased out and laid in the way as tops but you will notice how short the fibres are. When wetting out and rubbing it feels springier than using Merino tops. Keep rubbing and you will be pleased with the end result. I love it. Just treat it the same way as wool tops ie: rubbing till fibres don't move, then start rolling.
Also included is a small selection of decorative fibres to add to the final layer. These small additions add texture to the outer layer. Lovely for making hollow Vessels. 200g in total in this pack of Heather and Light Green. The Green is an interesting texture with green nepp like surface. The Heather has a mix of grey and the occasional mustardy nepp, very reminiscent of Heather on the moors. Both colours are flecked light and dark shades rather than a flat block of the same colour. There are flecks of occasional white kemp like fibres in all of this breed.
Both can be mixed and blended together to create further shades.
Total wool weight min.200g
Decorative fibres contain a mix of natural fibres including silk.
