Spikes, Craters & Ridges

Snainton Village Hall North Yorkshire

Spend the day in likeminded company learning how to create hollow 3D felt with the addition of Spikey edges, Craters and pockets on the surface and ridges along an edge. Look upon this piece of work as a sampler and you will be able to use it in the future to illustrate a variety of surfaces and edges on felt.

I will show you how to use resists then how to cut into the felt using single holes, multiple holes, large and small.

I will show you how to create a crater on the surface to which you can then add an inclusion once dry, e:g a shell.

I will also show you how to add a very textural "Ridgey" edge to your vessel. This is a very aesthetically pleasing process.

I will have a variety of samples to help you design your pieces. These will illustrate how using a resist and cutting in different ways can completely change the outcome.

I will show you how to add spikes to the edges to extend, change and add decorative interest to your vessel.

There are endless possibilities when combining a variety of techniques….come with an open mind.

The image is just a taste of my style to suggest some possibilities, at the workshop I will have an extensive collection of samples to inspire you.

There will be a variety of coloured wool but also a variety of natural undyed wool in various breeds and shades. I will also provide decorative silks and textures to add to the surface.
