Saturday 12th October
OUTSIDE IN : INSIDE OUT VESSELS
Learn a wet felting technique to make Vessels whereby the decoration on the outside becomes the inside and the inside becomes the outside. We will create a piece of 3d felt of an organic shape that is sculptural which can be made into a wall piece by framing or mounting in or on something such as a piece of wood or box or simply to sit on a surface. The image is just a taster of my style and colour choices, however on the day there will be a selection of template shapes and lots of colours for you to choose from to create your own personal style. Choose from Pod shape, Pebble shape, round, organic, the possibilities are endless.
You will learn how to make short spikes and craters to add extra interest to the centre of your piece. I will also demonstrate how to create small pockets or loops so that found objects or dried plant materials can be added once dry. There will be a variety of decorative fibres available to add surface texture and colour.
Learning the process of wet felting using a resist, cutting in a particular way and turning your work to create a different viewpoint is a useful technique to learn, it can be adapted in many other ways once learned.
You will leave the workshop with a finished piece ready to dry and display.
All you need to bring is:
Two large towels
A carrier bag to take wet towels home
A sharp pair of scissors
PACKED LUNCH
I will provide endless tea and coffee, biscuits and afternoon cake.
