There is one place available at Dalby Studio on Saturday 12th December for Introduction to Felt and Nuno £35
There are a few places at Dalby Forest Studio
Felt day workshops in Hutton Buscel Village Hall, near Scarborough North Yorkshire.
Each workshop includes all materials and equipments needed on the day. Coffee, tea and biscuits are included, please bring a packed lunch.There are usually ten participants.
10am to 4pm
February 7th Introduction to Nuno Felt
We will experiment with various Nuno Techniques producing pieces large enough to make into finished items when dry at home or keep as samples. This is a good introduction to Nuno before attempting a complete scarf or yardage.
March 7th Fingerless Gloves and Neck Warmers
We will make a beautiful pair of fingerless gloves suitable for colder days or elegant delicate gloves for evening wear. We will also cover how to make a neck warmer combining fabric and wool.
May 2nd 3 Dimensional Felt
Discover the versatile technique of the resist method which is the basis of 2 and 3 dimensional objects such as vessels or handbags. You can choose to make a vessel or handbag.
July 4th Cobweb Felt
Enjoy a day of experimenting with a variety of wool fibres and silk fibres. Discover the lightweight beauty of Cobweb felt. This is a delicate method of feltmaking and very suitable for scarves.
September 26th Nuno Scarf
(includes a rolled edge silk scarf)
We will make a finished silk scarf using the Nuno technique combining wool fibres and silk fabric. There are various methods of creating pattern and texture, you can choose your design to follow Nuno samples on display.
October 10th Cobweb Felt and Silk
Learn to make the lightest most delicate felt suitable for scarves, wraps and clothing.We will also make Silk paper and incorporate this with the felt, Various wools will be available to try. You will take home a finished scarf.
November 14th Jewellery
We will learn techniques for various components of jewellery such as beads, sushi beads and cords. We will cover how to make cords and attach them seamlessly to beads to create necklaces and bracelets using wet felting and needle felting methods. You can also choose to make a corsage.
December 5th Freaky (or not) Vessels
We will make a finished vessel that can be a simple elegant design or create a 'freaky' vessel adding spikes and craters and frills.
Please email here for a booking form. A £10 non refundable deposit per workshop booked is required. The balance to be paid on the day.
When attending a workshop you will need to bring with you 2 towels, sharp scissors, carrier bag, olive oil soap bar, notebook and pen and a packed lunch.
