2012 Feltmaking Workshops with Jenny Pepper
Felt day workshops in Hutton Buscel Village Hall near Scarborough North Yorkshire.
All workshops at Hutton Buscel are on a Saturday 10am to 4pm
Each workshop includes all materials and equipment needed on the day, unless stated in the description. Coffee, tea and biscuits are included, please bring a packed lunch. There are usually about ten participants.
A booking is not confirmed until I receive a booking form and deposit.
Occasionally there are last minute cancellations, email to check.If you are interested in a date that is fully booked please email with your enquiry, I can add you to the reserve list. Places do become available sometimes, I can then let you know.

January 28th 2012 Cobweb Scarf Fully Booked
Wrap up warm this Winter in your own unique scarf. Create a light delicate scarf from natural wool with inclusions of silk fibres and fancy wool. This versatile method of lightweight felt is a useful technique to learn to incorporate with future projects. Great for clothing, particularly when combining with fabrics. As the name suggests, beautiful design can be achieved with a cobwebby open effect. Totally different to traditional feltmaking method.
February 4th 2012 Storage Vessels Fully Booked
Learn how to create 3 dimensional felt using the resist method of feltmaking. Make one large open storage vessel or two smaller ones, great for keeping your scissors, measures and tools in. The vessel will be open topped without a lid. Choose from coloured Merino wool or natural wools. £35 (includes plastic template to take home)
March 3rd 2012 Spring Flowers Fully booked
Enjoy a relaxing day creating felt flowers of various shapes and sizes. There will be lots of inspiration and samples on display. You will take home at least 4 flowers which could be made into brooches or simply displayed in a bowl once at home. £25
March 31st 2012 Vintage Felt Fully Booked
Enjoy an experimental day making felt with inclusions of old lace and vintage finds. Make a really useful needlecase and pin cushion with your felt or create your own design of vintage inspired felt. For this workshop you will need to spend the coming year collecting your own vintage finds such as lace, crochet doylies, ribbons, fabric, scarves etc. to bring with you on the day. Also consider bringing vintage buttons, hooks, eyes, beads or anything interesting you come across. I will provide embroidery threads, some buttons, wool and equipment required during the workshop. £30
May 26th 2012 Nuno Scarf Fully Booked
Create your very own design of Nuno felt scarf for the Summer. We will combine silk fabric and Merino wool to create a new unique fabric that will drape beautifully as a scarf. £45 (includes a silk scarf)
September 15th 2012 Spiky Vessels 2 places remaining
Let your imagination go. Expanding on the resist method of creating 3 dimensional vessels, we will learn how to create added dimensions and interest. Using images of sea creatures as inspiration we will learn how to seamlessly felt spikes and craters onto the surface of your vessel. You will go home with a finished vessel. £35 (includes plastic template to take home)
November 3rd 2012 Felt Hat 2 places remaining
Just in time for the colder weather, create your very own felt hat in warm pure wool. Choose a simple pull on style or create something a bit different with folds and points. £40 (includes plastic pattern to take home)
December 8th 2012 Buttons, Beads and Cords 1 place remaining
Have a fun day learning both wet felting and dry needlefelting techniques to create beads and buttons. We will also learn how to make a cord suitable for jewellery or handles. The advantage of dry needle felting is that it allows you to create very intricate surface patterns to both beads and buttons. Once dry you could attach your beads and buttons to the cord to make jewellery or apply the buttons and cords to previous felt pieces you may have made as fasteners and decoration. £30 (includes felting needle to take home)
