2011 Felt Workshops with Jenny Pepper

Felt day workshops in Hutton Buscel Village Hall near Scarborough 

North Yorkshire.

All workshops at Hutton Buscel are on a Saturday 10am to 4pm


Each workshop includes all materials and equipment needed on the day.  Coffee, tea and biscuits are included, please bring a packed lunch. There are usually about ten participants. A booking is not confirmed until I receive a booking form and deposit.

January 22nd      Felt Gathering

Start the new year with like minded people and enjoy a day of feltmaking. Whilst I will  organise the day I wont be giving a day of tuition. I will provide equipment needed during the day and a bag of wool will be included. Experiment with previous techniques you learned during 2010 to produce a finished piece of felt. Refreshments and light buffet are included. An enjoyable social felt day.  £12   (by invitation to previous workshop participants) Full payment required on booking please.

 

February 5th       Pods and Pebbles

Have a fun day creating 3 dimensional pods that could be displayed, hung or worn as a pendant. Make less but make bigger and pop your mobile in it! All using the wet felting method. In addition create pebbles using the dry needlefelting method. Lots of fun. £30

 

March 5th           Frilly Vessels

Spend the day creating a 3D Vessel with added decoration and dimensions. Using images of sea life such as sea urchins, sea anemones and jellyfish as inspiration. You will go home with a unique finished vessel. £30

 

April 2nd            Little Creatures

Unleash the child in you, create a 3 dimensional hollow Art Doll Creature. The main doll will be seamless and hollow, we will then add hair, fastenings and frippery. This is not a childs toy, but you can keep "special" things inside!  £30

 

May 7th              Felted Flowers

Enjoy a relaxing day creating felt flowers of various shapes and sizes. There will be lots of inspiration and samples on display and you will take home at least 4 flowers which could be made into brooches or simply displayed in a bowl. £25

 

July 2nd              Make Me Small

Life in miniature, learn to make 'small' felt. Making small challenges the laying out of wool to result in a fine enough finished felt object. Lots of options of 3D possibilities, vessels, shoes, dresses(all in miniature) £28

 

September 17th  Cobweb and Nuno Scarf

Using the Cobweb technique as a basis with the addition of Silk chiffon or pongee, create a beautiful finished scarf. Price includes a silk scarf or length of fabric.£40 

 

 October 15th      Found and Felt

A vintage take on feltmaking. Make a beautiful vintage style piece of felt with inclusions of old lace, fabric, ribbons and embroidery. If you book this workshop spend the coming months gathering pieces of interesting fragments in advance to incorporate in your felt. I will have a selection of vintage buttons and threads to apply to the finished piece. £30 

 

November 12th   Naturally Vessels

An opportunity to create a vessel using natural wools. There will be a selection of natural wools to choose from such as Gotland, Norwegian, Jacob, Blue Faced Leicester and Icelandic. Decorative fibres will be available to add a final touch. £30

 

December 3rd     Art Felt Jewellery

Treat yourself and make a large focal felt piece of jewellery  using ethnic and tribal jewellery as inspiration. We will use wet and dry techniques and will cover how to create a fine felt cord and all in one closure. You will go home with a finished felt piece of jewellery. £30

If you are attending a workshop, you will need to bring with you 2 towels, carrier bag, scissors, olive oil soap bar, notepad/pen and a packed lunch.
